Down

Loose ends all around inside and out

This kind of presence makes you want to shout

Earnest beginning with expectations so high

Now fallen and shattered makes you want to cry

Suddenly feeling yourself at the end

No longer excited by your current blend

You wish it were different and you held high hope

But all that you feel is a deep sense of “nope”

Each time you descend into the hole

Is harder to climb out and rescue your soul

Strength and resolve are harder to muster

You no longer get by with blarney and bluster

The great expectation and vision you hold

The daring bravado that makes you bold

Courage is gone fear is quiet and cold

All you can think someone to hold

Hope and faith waning resolve is low

Perhaps there is no place to go but to grow

Let time take you to what you need now

In the meantime soothe your furrowed brow

Do you take notice when you’re feeling down?

Do you devote time exploring what’s behind it or do you just power through it?

Can you recall a time when the most valuable lesson emerged from a place of deep sadness?

Has the lesson served you?

Do you think there is value in asking what the down feeling wants to tell you?

Will you use it?

I have always been a seeker, always looking for the answers to what seekers ponder. I can remember Dr. Maxwell Maltz and Psychocybernetics; Dr. Carl Rogers On Becoming a Person. Moving through my legal training and practicing law the focus was always about people and how to better their lives. All that searching, reading, studying and introspective work culminated in this collection of daily readings for seekers. My work in the world has progressed from fighting legal cases to mediating divorces to helping people understand the essentials of relationship and collaborating to these poems. How can we collaborate effectively and work with each other in harmony to create the world we seek. How can we mindfully enable this world to become a place that works for all. My prayer is that through introspection using these poems as a guide we can all grow together in making the world the Heaven on Earth we all aspire toward.
