Burning

Burning

Finally quiet the chatter subsides
Stillness at long last resides deep inside
The dancing brain rests and alights on a perch
You view the whole landscape abounding on earth

The journey’s been thrilling with ups and downs
Sometimes hearty laughter sometimes sad frowns
The frantic activity’s meant to distract
And to keep anguish residing intact

One day you wake up a quiet within
Is this inner space bedrock or merely a whim
That knowledge will come after a time
As it plays out in your circular mind

That doesn’t matter ‘cause it’s up to you
Quiet’s the seed inside your great brew
Give that quiet crystal nurture galore
Feed it with care it does not want more

The payoff ‘s a healthy deep glow within
Down in each cell where your fire begins
The spiral flame is aglow even keel
That fire sustains all that is real

When you find the time to get quiet can you sense the healing underneath all the chatter?
Do you recognize that you can make a choice to access that part of yourself?
Is there anything preventing you from going there more often?

I have always been a seeker, always looking for the answers to what seekers ponder. I can remember Dr. Maxwell Maltz and Psychocybernetics; Dr. Carl Rogers On Becoming a Person. Moving through my legal training and practicing law the focus was always about people and how to better their lives. All that searching, reading, studying and introspective work culminated in this collection of daily readings for seekers.

My work in the world has progressed from fighting legal cases to mediating divorces to helping people understand the essentials of relationship and collaborating to these poems. How can we collaborate effectively and work with each other in harmony to create the world we seek. How can we mindfully enable this world to become a place that works for all.

My prayer is that through introspection using these poems as a guide we can all grow together in making the world the Heaven on Earth we all aspire toward.
