Caretaking

What makes you happy in a world gone insane

What forms of knowing lessen your pain

What makes you hopeful amidst conflict and strife

What keeps you from leaving this journey called life

Dear ones I think happy is gone

Childhood illusions are back on the farm

Time we devote to happy not cool

Though we still linger yesterday’s fool

Happy a moment a dot on a line

A smile bursting forth a moment in time

A place of connection tickling your heart

A sense of pure knowing conveyed in art

Working a mission makes you whole

Steadfast perseverance a noble goal

When you’re working toward a sweet end

Secure in friendship on which you depend

The real gift is giving and leaving

Engendering laughter fostering believing

Inducing joy in the heart mind of others

Voicing concerns of those trapped in druthers

Not worried what you have to do or be

That is the presence of your small me

It’s about filling all those you can

Let your work uplift the family of man

Are your actions guided by the value of contributions you make to others?

Are you maximizing your gifts and the value they provide?
