Consequences
CONSEQUENCES
So many choices served up by life
Do you go left do you go right
There is no answer that is what’s true
You give up something to get what calls you
So as you ponder in your indecision
Mulling over each minute revision
Onward and upward quest for the gold ring
Or home and hearth what is your thing
Words on this page make some sense no doubt
Unfortunate they won’t figure it out
No rational equation adds all of the wedges
You weigh consequences stretch to know edges
And in the end you will feel some pain
No matter the newness potential or fame
In making choices you let go and move
Something is missing that you must lose
As you go forward you carry that pain
It will be with you always no matter the gain
That’s part of living and learning on earth
As sentient beings discovering our worth
Realize transitions are part of the game
It’s how we’re tested by shame or fame
For some it’s simple answers are clear
Others sit pondering year after year
Follow your voices listen to your heart
Paint your own canvas let your life be your art
And in the end when you go to your grave
Recall all you received and all that you gave
When was the last time you left someone or something behind?
How did you feel about that? Was it something you anticipated?
How did you process it? What did you learn from the process?
How did your learning inform future actions of a similar kind?
