Guilt

Guilt
What is this emotion guiding our ways

Impacting our action dictating our days

We long for forgiveness release from our pain

Searching for the sunshine after all the rain

Ask “what am I guilty about?”

The response awakens you with a shout

How has your life been guided by shame

Has blame shaped your actions compromised your name

Do you do what you do to quiet the guilt

So you will feel better about your own quilt

Do you substitute expressions of righteousness

To keep others from knowing your true self

Is your life hidden under this guise

Is it the shrouding that keeps you alive

Not very pretty not squeaky clean

The cycle repeats a perpetual machine

Please break the chain of your own prison

Daylight awaits guilt subsides in decision

To reveal the life that is yours to have

Let go of the guilt you won’t feel so bad

What are the places where guilt is a driver in your life?

What are the places where guilt is a driver in your life?

What are the places where guilt is a driver in your life?

How might you change that? What would be the benefit?
