Kinship

KINSHIP

It keeps us alive holds things together
Keeps all intact no matter the weather
Brings out the sunshine sends away pain
No matter the barometer or forecast of rain

Holding a hand kissing a lip
Catches you when you startle or slip
Takes darkest nighttime the blackest hour
Fills it with the sparkle of a meteor shower

Amazing how simple when hearts are connected
When you join with loved ones feeling respected
Deepest of meanings this is the source
Puts a wide smile on your face of course

A real sense of traction that makes you feel bold
It holds you together keeps you from getting old
Infinite variety yours for the taking
Cuts across every border so generating

Crosses ethnicity religion and race
The underlying lattice is our grace
So when you’re feeling down or alone
Allow your connections to carry you home

What are things connections you have with others contribute to your life?
Recall a connection providing solace moving through a challenging time?
How did that connection sustain you?
How have you reciprocated or “paid it forward?”
What was the reward in that?
