Profit
Profit
How do we measure the worth of endeavor
How do we balance accounts when we’re clever
The usual measure financial profit and loss
Return on investment the bank account’s boss
What if we looked at other indicia
Such as our caring for brother or sister
Of course we need currency for our supplies
We need much more if we want to live wise
This new comprehensive tallying sheet
We’ll craft and use its gauge as a treat
Measuring the value we bring to people
Measuring the climb loved ones up a steeple
Looking at smiles the faces around
Doing good work we can say we are proud
Observing our human capital account
Seeing it bulge as it grows stout
At the same time our finances grow abundant
Who would have thought we might have fun with it
The lessons we learned as we look back and reflect
It wasn’t so hard and we gained self-respect
How do you measure your own success?
What are the metrics you use to build a balance sheet for your life?
List the particulars you look at when evaluating how well you are doing? Are there things you would like to add?
Do you have the courage to do so?
