Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving
How do we give thanks this time of year

Thanks for our freedom fortune good cheer

Thanks for full stomachs and warm safe houses

Thanks for art forms and the passions it arouses

Thanks for our families and their sacred presence

Thanks to our lovers who give us their essence

This warmest of seasons is time for reflection

Time to stay conscious check your direction

Time to acknowledge appreciate

All that comes to you filling your plate

As you recline and have your repast

Time to realize abundance can crash

Look at today’s news see all the trouble

This world is a tinderbox that could burst your bubble

Incendiary spots need the resources you bring

Sweet people trapped when they want to sing

The “Thanks” in Thanksgiving is for what you bring

Thanks comes from giving that makes others sing

Acknowledge and honor the privilege we share

Take care of others with souls thin and bare

What special thanks do you have this year? For what? For who?

What do you have to be thankful for?

What do you have to be gracious about ?

Are there ways in which your own inner dialogue prevents you from being more appreciative of others? Of yourself?

How might you change that dialogue?
