Tides

Bodies have rhythms like mother earth
Blossoming spring harvesting summers worth
The heat of summer warms and slows us down
The freezing of winter keeps us moving around

The ebbs and flows take place deep within
Have a mind of their own you cannot win
Often the mistake so many make
Looking for reasons within life’s wake

Objectifying the mood we are in
Pointing as cause to some external whim
Has nothing to do with this that whatever
What goes on inside is like the weather

Like it or not that’s how it is
Try to resist life says: “None of your biz!”
The thing you must do if you want to have peace
Honor you rhythms therein lies release

The only way out is the way through
Go with your own flow don’t resist your true
Make your rhythms your teacher ally friend
Smoothing the bumps as you travel and mend

In the end when there’s nowhere to go
You’ll feel at home in your own skin you know
Welcome new friends as they surface within
A hug and a kiss embrace them as kin

Do you do your best to connect your internal state to some external cause?
Have you thought that it may just be your own unique biochemistry?
Next time your mood shifts: some external event or your own rhythms?
